Founded in April of 2002 in Orange County, California, The Tinguinha Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school is the source of a very technical level of BJJ instruction and Self Defense. The number of students grows every month and their technical skills improve almost daily. The Tinguinha Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy is one of the best schools of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in California and it has been doing extremely well in all of the major BJJ tournaments in the U.S.

The Tinguinha Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school is not limited only to the goal of preparing a fighter to perform on the mats - it's a philosophy that prepares a fighter for life. Keeping individuals away from fears and lack of confidence, feelings that exists in most people's lives. Showing them not only to always compete as today's world demands, but also to face the opponent in a noble and honorable way. The school offers many various options and benefits from the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training system, such as: self defense, physical fitness, and improved fighting in competitions. The Tinguinha BJJ Academy's mission statement is to help our members develop, grow and improve both phisically and mentally through progression in martial arts. We seek to accomplish this by offering the most innovative and enjoyable martial arts and fitness instruction available. Our goal is to encourage individuals and families to lead healthier lifestyles and to assist them in reaching their martial arts and fitness related goals. We strive to touch the lives of as many individuals as possible with the positive benefits of this martial art.

Academy Qualities

The Tinguinha BJJ Academy offers Top of the line Brazilian jiu-jitsu instruction, composed by a high rank & well accomplished BJJ Team, and following a legitimate and traditional, historic BJJ lineage, led by World known 6th Degree BJJ Black Belt Professor Mauricio "Tinguinha" Mariano.

Mauricio "Tinguinha" personally crafted the TBJJ Academy curriculum and serves as the Head instructor, teaching classes to students of all levels & ages weekly. Tinguinha has taught, trained, and promoted all TBJJ instructors, ensuring all TBJJ classes are taught in accordance with the TBJJ curriculum and deliver premium instruction to all students. Tinguinha is also a featured guest instructor at Academies worldwide, including the TBJJ Affiliated Schools.
